What will I learn?

Bioprocess engineering is revolutionising industries across the globe-from food and pharmaceuticals to environmental and resource recovery-by harnessing the power of biology. With the rapid advancement of synthetic biology and cutting-edge gene editing technologies, our ability to design and control biological systems has never been greater. This interdisciplinary field of study prepares students to lead in a world where sustainable, biology-based processes are replacing traditional chemical and mechanical methods. You'll explore how to use renewable resources and mild, eco-friendly conditions to produce everything from new food and beverage products to nutraceuticals, biomaterials and life-saving therapies. Through hands-on experience with bioreactors, cell culturing (microbial and mammalian), biocatalysis and biomaterials fabrication, you’ll gain the skills to scale up biological processes and solve real-world challenges in health, the environment and beyond. Whether you're passionate about creating greener technologies, developing novel therapeutics, or driving innovation in industrial biotechnology, this field of study will equip you with the tools to make a lasting impact.
