What will I learn?

Occupational hygienists apply scientific knowledge and techniques to the measurement and control of hazards that can harm the health and wellbeing of workers and others in the work environment.Designed for science, engineering and health science graduates, this specialist program will build on your scientific background, focusing on the practical skills and knowledge you will need to manage the health impacts of work environments.Learn about the consequences of exposure, how to quantitatively measure them, and what controls are required to reduce risk. Explore a broad range of health hazards, including airborne dusts, gases and vapours physical hazards such as noise, vibration and radiation biological hazards such as viruses and bacteria ergonomic hazards and emerging risks such as nanotechnology.

Entry requirements

For international students

To be eligible for entry, you'll need:

a bachelor's degree in science, engineering or health sciences, with two or more first-year, university-level science courses that cover human anatomy, human physiology, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry and/or physics.

You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification.

English language requirements

IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ

TOEFL IBT - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19.

TOEFL PB - Overall 570, listening 54, reading 54, writing 59/5.

Pearsons - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands.

BE - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills.

CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands.

OET is not accepted.
