What will I learn?

This course is designed for graduates from a four-year Engineering undergraduate degree not accredited by Engineers Australia in a related discipline.The course is not suitable for graduates of a four-year undergraduate degree, with Engineers Australia accreditation in the same discipline. Those holding an EA accredited qualification and seeking a masters level qualification in the same discipline are encouraged to consider applying for entry to the Master of Philosophy or Master of Engineering Management.This major equips future metallurgical and process engineers with concepts and process applications relevant to precious, critical and base metal extraction, separation and refining from primary and secondary resources.You will learn about techniques and emerging technologies in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy. Students will be exposed to a full scope of minerals and metals processing including mineralogy, process selection, plant design, resources recycling, and environmental management along with aspects of project assessment and mineral economics.Comprehensive understanding of metallurgical processes is critical to optimize resources extraction, particularly from low-grade and complex ores. Practical laboratory-based learning will allow you to gain exposure to various stages involved in processing minerals and extracting value from different sources. During the course, you will participate in engineering professional practice via Work Integrated Learning and site-based case studies.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants require a 4-year Engineering degree from a recognised institution in the same discipline of study. Students who have completed the Graduate Diploma of Professional Engineering degree at Curtin will be considered to have met the above course requirement.

Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) score of 60; Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE): 176; English language bridging (ELB): Grade B; CUTE (Curtin Uni Test of English) – A;
