What will I learn?

This specialisation will prepare you to teach children and adolescents (5–18 years of age) in primary and secondary schools from Foundation to Year 12.You will develop a knowledge and understanding of learning as a developmental continuum and will learn to employ a diverse pedagogical toolbox to meet the differentiated learning needs of students across the learning spectrum.You will actively engage with contemporary theories, concepts and practices of primary and secondary education, developing inclusive teaching and learning practices to meet a diversity of cognitive, social and emotional needs and building a repertoire of strategies to manage children's and adolescents' learning in classroom settings.All the key elements of the primary curriculum including including English and literacies, mathematics, arts, humanities, digital technologies, science, and health and physical education are included. Your expertise within the key primary curriculum areas of English/literacy or mathematics /numeracy, will be enhanced by completing extended studies in one of these areas.

An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) with at least a credit (60%) average. Admission into the course is competitive and may require a higher overall average than the minimum requirement.Students applying for the dual-sector Early Childhood and Primary Education specialisation must have at least one year of full-time equivalent study relevant to one or more learning areas of the primary school curriculum.Students applying for the Primary Education specialisation must have at least one year of full-time equivalent study relevant to one or more learning areas of the primary school curriculum.Students applying for the Primary and Secondary Education specialisation must have at least one year of full-time equivalent study relevant to one or more learning areas of the primary school curriculum and at least a major study in one secondary teaching area.Students applying for the Secondary Education specialisation must have appropriate discipline studies to qualify for two teaching specialist areas or one double teaching specialist area with at least a major study in one secondary teaching area and a second teaching area comprising at least a minor study
