The Master of Urban Water Engineering (Professional) provides you with the integrated knowledge and skills required to grasp the whole urban water cycle and the linkages between its different aspects.The trend towards urbanisation and associated water stress in modern cities is strengthening, and as the urban centres become more densely populated this will not be reversed in the foreseeable future. Globally, there is shortage of engineers with expertise in all aspects of the urban water cycle and their reciprocal influence and integration.The Master of Urban Water Engineering (Professional) is designed to develop your technical expertise through advanced and master's level courses, and provides the opportunity to select electives to complement your discipline. This knowledge will expertly prepare you with the necessary skills required to solve complex engineering challenges in a changing world.

Entry requirements

For international students

To be eligible for entry, you'll need:

a 4-year bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (see below), or a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) which includes all of the relevant discipline content (see below), or to have successfully completed 3 years of study towards an approved qualification at an overseas partner institution, with a formal pathway to the Master of Urban Water Engineering (Professional). You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 5.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification

Relevant disciplines for previous qualifications

Relevant disciplines include chemical engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, groundwater science and engineering, hydrology and water resources engineering, hydropower engineering, water conservancy engineering, water science and engineering, and water supply and drainage (science) engineering.

If your bachelor's degree was not awarded in these disciplines, you must have successfully completed all of the following discipline content in your tertiary studies:

advanced/higher/engineering maths
chemistry
and at least 3 from:
mass and energy balances
transport and transfer
reaction engineering
water or wastewater engineering
separation process technology or unit operations
process synthesis and flowsheeting
environmental systems
fluid mechanics
hydraulics or hydrology

English language requirements

IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ; TOEFL IBT - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19. TOEFL PB - Overall 570, listening 54, reading 54, writing 59/5. Pearsons - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands. BE - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills. CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands.
