This major offers students the opportunity to specialise and carry out research in a number of fields These include Enhanced Oil Recovery EOR Reservoir Modelling Unconventional Resources coal gas hydrates shale Hydraulic FracturingFracture Stimulation Formation Damage Control and CO2 geosequestration More specific postgraduate research topics can be developed through communication with the School of Engineering Inquiries and applications are particularly welcome from applicants who are interested in Productivity enhancement from unconventional reservoirs Nanotechnology for enhanced oilgas recovery purposes Stimulation of natural fracture networks in fractured reservoirs Proppant placement in hydraulic and natural fracture systems Wettability alteration in conventional and unconventional reservoirs CO2Sequestration in underground reservoirs Research students in Petroleum Engineering have access to a range of stateoftheart infrastructure laboratory facilities and analytical instruments

Entry requirements

For international students

All applicants are required to have the equivalent of 6 months full time research (which must involve a research output which includes the conception and design of the project, and analysis and interpretation of findings) if applying with a Masters qualification other than a Master by Research.Academic admission requirements (Band 11) may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:Masters Degree (Research); orBachelor Honours Degree (First or Upper Second class); orDemonstrated capacity to undertake original PhD-level research.English competency requirements:
