What will I learn?

Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU)’s internationally renowned Image Arts: Film degree program prepares you to master the art of storytelling and engage audiences through the power of the moving image. Experiential learning opportunities: Internship available.Located in the heart of Toronto, Canada’s filmmaking capital, you’ll learn by doing and gain practical experience in every aspect of film production, from story development and cinematography to sound design and editing using both digital and analog technologies. You’ll produce your own short fiction and documentary films while being mentored by award-winning filmmakers and scholars. Join the ranks of notable alumni like Andrew Cividino, Jeremy Podeswa and Jasmin Mozaffari and graduate with the skills, experience and industry connections to thrive in the film world. An optional internship will give you additional opportunities to gain valuable experience.

Entry requirements

For international students

To be considered for admission, Ontario high school students must meet the following requirements:Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)Completion of 6 Grade 12 U or M courses with a minimum overall average of 70%Completion of the following required Grade 12 U course with a minimum grade of 70%:English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred)An overall average of 70% is required for consideration. Due to competition, the average needed for admission can fluctuate each year (it depends on the number of applications received and the number of spaces available). The grade range at the top of this page represents the average required in previous years.Applicants who have completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma must present grades of 4 or higher in 3 Higher Level and 3 Standard Level subjects, including prerequisite subjects, and a total score of 28 or higher (bonus points will be accepted).
