What will I learn?

Social workers strive to advance social justice and equity for individuals, families, groups and communities. In the Social Work degree program at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), you’ll learn how processes of marginalization and oppression shape people’s experiences and access to resources, power, and social and health services. Experiential learning opportunities: Placement mandatory. You’ll gain experience through 700 hours of placements at local or international organizations, live actor simulations and opportunities to work on community projects. With a focus on social justice, you’ll be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to advocate and work effectively in a variety of settings. After graduation, you’ll be eligible for membership in the Ontario Association of Social Workers, and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
