The Certificate in Theatre Studies offers students an opportunity to explore theatre and performance in a shorter, flexible module with a focus on Community Engaged Learning (CEL).Theatre Studies is a multidisciplinary liberal arts program with a diverse mix of in-class lectures and seminars, and courses delivered in conjunction with established theatre organizations. Students will enjoy intimate lecture and seminar class sizes, field trip experiences and workshops. Lectures and seminars address topical social and cultural issues in theatre and performance, including gender and sexuality on stage and race and ethnicity in performance, for example. Studio classes taught in conjunction with the Stratford Festival of Canada, as well as our second-year Fall Production course, will be of interest to students keen to pursue careers in theatre practice, students looking for a drama teachable, or students seeking graduate training in theatre and performance studies. Particularly popular is our capstone Destination Theatre course, in which students journey to London, England or New York City for a two-week intensive experience that includes theatre outings, workshops with specialists, performative walking tours, and much more.
