What will I learn?

The Master of Arts (MA) is a course-and-thesis-based degree program. Students in this program take many of the same courses as those in the MEd program, and then work with their supervisor(s) to write a scholarly thesis to complete the program. The master of arts (MA) degree signifies the acquisition of advanced knowledge in the student's field of specialization and competence in conducting significant and original research in education. This program takes a scholarly approach to learning technologies design, plans for its uses, and/or evaluation of technology based learning innovations. Designed to accommodate students who work full time during the day or who take a leave to study full time, the program supports diverse cohorts including K-12 teachers, college instructors, instructional designers, and aspiring academics. Applicants from a wide variety of educational and technical backgrounds are welcome. In this program you will learn research-based approaches to designing learning technologies, planning for their use and evaluating their impact on learning. Graduates work in schools, universities, corporate training, R&D labs and informal learning environments. Classes are held in late afternoons and evenings to accommodate working professionals. This program is designed to offer flexibility for students by holding most classes in the late afternoon/evenings. Classes tend to be held on our Surrey campus.
