What will I learn?

Our master's programs in Arts Education offer students opportunities to explore creativity and meaning-making through the arts, through investigation of arts practices, pedagogy and ways of being in inquiry. Students will engage in arts explorations and scholarship in a community of artists, creatives, and arts educators. These explorations can be implemented in a variety of traditional and non-traditional educative environments.The Master of Education (MEd) in Arts Education is suitable for those working in schools and other educational, arts-based contexts. The Master of Education (MEd) program develops critical knowledge of arts theory and practice related to education, program development, and learning and teaching across a range of arts disciplines.

Entry requirements

For international students

A bachelor's degree from Simon Fraser University or its equivalent with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0/4.33 (B), or a grade point average of at least 3.33/4.33 (B+) based on the last 60 units of undergraduate/graduate courses will normally be required for admission.ACADEMIC WRITING SAMPLE (PDF)Upload a recent example of academic writing in PDF format. If applicants do not have a recent paper they are advised to write one on any topic that is of interest or relevance to them. Paper length should be a minimum of 5 pages. TRANSCRIPTSYou must upload a transcript (scanned, saved, etc.) for each post-secondary institution you have attended (institutions you listed in Step 3, in your online application). Ensure all pages are uploaded, including the grading scale (typically located on the back of the page or a separate sheet).REFERENCESInclude the name and contact information for three references most familiar with your research and/or academic potential.
