What will I learn?

The Master of Arts in Community Music is a one year, full-time postgraduate programme. It offers a comprehensive grounding in the skills and knowledge needed to function as a successful community musician in a range of contexts. The course is aimed at musicians who want to extend or develop the abilities needed to facilitate the expressive work of others and work effectively with a wide range of people in diverse settings. Students attain practical perspectives and hands-on experiences in the emerging field of Community Music in conjunction with developing the skills required to realise projects from their inception to their final execution. The course includes: music facilitation skills, engagement with emerging research in the field, reflective practice, working with funding mechanisms, project design, delivery and modes of evaluation. The course considers and addresses the growing interest in Community Music throughout the world. The MA offers a comprehensive grounding in the skills and knowledge needed to function as a successful community musician in a range of contexts. Entry requirements

For international students

Primary degree in a suitable discipline with first- or second-class honours or an approved equivalent qualification (Primary degree: Level 8 - National Qualifications Authority of Ireland). Or an equivalent capability based on prior professional experience. A performance audition and interview will be required in all cases. Additional audio, visual or written material may be required. Matriculation examinations from European countries where English is presented as a subject and an acceptable level is achieved Irish Leaving Certificate English –Ordinary Level Grade D or above
