It allows you to complement your technical acumen with the broad, transferable skills and critical thinking abilities essential for solving complex problems. You can combine one of our nine engineering specialisations with a wide range of subjects in the humanities, social sciences, cultures and languages. The unique skill set that you will gain through a BA/BE(Hons) will put you in a strong position to pursue new opportunities created by developments in society, technology and business. All our Engineering specialisations are accredited by Engineering New Zealand, making this programme a recognised qualification in many countries. You will acquire knowledge of ancient Greek language. This gives you access to literary texts, so you can develop an appreciation of ancient Greek literature, philosophy and history. The Greeks established literary genres that have had a profound influence on European literature. Ancient Greek masterpieces include Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, the histories of Herodotus and the dramas of Euripides and Aristophanes. Greek myth and legend is a formative element of the European imagination, and the central stream of European philosophy flows from the thought and writings of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle.
