What will I learn?

Complement your musical studies with a wide range of subjects in the humanities, social sciences, cultures and languages. You’ll learn from leading researchers while developing your practice with some of the country’s finest instrument teachers, music historians and composers. Our BA/BMus develops essential skills that can help you to adapt and thrive in a fast-changing, globalised economy and an evolving music industry. Your BA/BMus will support your future career by helping you to develop strong capabilities, including advanced communication skills, critical and creative thinking, the ability to research and evaluate information, the ability to analyse problems and seek solutions, adaptability, and an awareness of different perspectives. You’ll be well-positioned to pursue new opportunities opened up by developments in society, technology and the music industry.There are French language acquisition courses for every level, including beginners. You also have a choice of courses on French literature and culture, with some taught in French. Study possibilities include French literature, film, history, medieval studies, linguistics and translation. You also have opportunities to take Study Abroad courses in a French speaking country. You can take a major in French as one of the two components of your double major for a BA. You will need to pass at least 120 points (eight courses) towards each of your majors, including at least 45 points (three courses) at Stage III.

Entry requirements

For international students

International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum total score of 24.General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level. You must have completed a minimum of three A-Level subjects. Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). You must have completed a minimum of three A-level subjects.
