What will I learn?

If you have achieved consistently high grades in your Bachelor of Commerce degree (or equivalent) you could be eligible for the honours programme. It will provide you with an additional 120 points of postgraduate research-based study to develop your analytical skills and critical thinking. You will complete a set of advanced courses in the discipline and a short supervised dissertation or project that will demonstrate your independent research skills. Your honours programme structure and courses will depend on the specialisation selected. Global organisations, local businesses and leading universities recognise the relevance of our postgraduate curriculum, making our graduates sought after. Our Business School ASB Careers Centre will help get your career in business off to a strong start. You can access programmes, workshops and one-on-one support. You will be given opportunities to network with employers to increase your knowledge of the local business environment.You can study Commercial Law in two postgraduate programmes offered at the Business School, and four offered at Auckland Law School. In Commercial Law you will study the legal frameworks used to make business decisions in the public and private sectors. You will focus on legal problems you may encounter in your career. Commercial law is crucial to all careers in business as well as law, including accounting, finance, management, HR, marketing, property and entrepreneurship.

Entry requirements

For international students

Taught 120 points

You must have completed an undergraduate business degree from a recognised university (or similar institution) with a GPE of 5.0 in the highest level of courses required for the major.

IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.5 and no bands below 6.0; Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 90 and written score of 21; Paper-based TOEFL: Overall score of 68 and a writing score of 21; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE): Overall score of 176 and no bands below 169; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 58 and no PTE Communicative score below 50; Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP): Grade of B-; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 85.
