Bachelor of Science with Honours - Electronic and Computer Systems

New Zealand

What will I learn?

Take your capabilities to the next level with in-depth study of the crossover between computer science and electronics. Almost all modern electronics have embedded controllers in them, and specialists in the software and hardware of this technology are in demand. Choose from the range of specialist areas offered by Victoria including power electronics, wireless communications systems, signal processing and control systems engineering. Or focus on advanced mechatronics including options to study intelligent design and problem solving using musical mechatronics. You'll be able to broaden your expertise and incorporate courses from related disciplines such as computer science, network engineering and software engineering into your studies. If you're doing your Master's, you'll complete a research thesis on the area of electronics that interests you most. Extend your knowledge in a specialised field of science and boost your career opportunities with a BSc(Hons). You'll complete an intensive one-year programme and gain the advanced theoretical knowledge and skills you need to pursue a scientific career. Develop your skills in research design and implementation, critical thinking, data analysis and scientific communication. You'll take courses worth a total of 120 points, including a 30-point research project for most subjects. The research project will give you practical training in research methods and experience in the process of creating scientific knowledge. It will also set you up with the skills you need to go on to complete a Master's or PhD programme.
