What will I learn?

A Master of Science (MSc) will develop your technical, laboratory and academic writing skills to prepare you for a career in science.The MSc by thesis will take you between 12 and 15 months to complete. You'll carry out in-depth supervised research and write a thesis. During your studies you might also author publications for peer-reviewed journals.To do an MSc by thesis you'll need an Honours degree or postgraduate diploma in an appropriate field, with an average grade of B or higher in your subject area.Take your capabilities to the next level with in-depth study of the crossover between computer science and electronics. Almost all modern electronics have embedded controllers in them, and specialists in the software and hardware of this technology are in demand. Choose from the range of specialist areas offered by Victoria including power electronics, wireless communications systems, signal processing and control systems engineering. Or focus on advanced mechatronics including options to study intelligent design and problem solving using musical mechatronics. You'll be able to broaden your expertise and incorporate courses from related disciplines such as computer science, network engineering and software engineering into your studies. If you're doing your Master's, you'll complete a research thesis on the area of electronics that interests you most. Gain hands-on knowledge and experience. Learn techniques to design and make electronic, electro-mechanical and optical devices with micron-sized features. Or explore areas involving advanced techniques in the field of mechatronics, robotics and artificial intelligence. Study with the School of Engineering and Computer Science where you'll be part of a small class giving you the opportunity to work closely with your lecturer or supervisor. Learn from and work with highly regarded academics with international reputations for teaching, research and publishing. The MSc by thesis will take you between 12 and 15 months to complete. Entry requirements

For international students

You need a Bachelors degree with at least a B average unless stated otherwise in the programmes minimum general entry requirements. A background in a particular subject area or extensive relevant work experience may be required. Students with equivalent international qualifications from a recognised institution are encouraged to apply. Each application is assessed individually, and entry into postgraduate programmes is at the discretion of the programme director.
