Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants are expected to have three A-levels with a typical offer of AAB, including two subjects from Chemistry, Biology, Human Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, or Statistics, with at least one being Chemistry or Biology/Human Biology. For IB applicants, a 6,6,5 at Higher Level is required, including two subjects from the same list, with at least one being Chemistry or Biology/Human Biology, and a minimum of 32 points overall. BTEC Extended Diploma, Diploma, and Extended Certificate qualifications are considered on a case-by-case basis. General Studies, Critical Thinking, Citizenship Studies, Applied Science, Communication and Culture, Critical Studies, Global Perspectives, Science in Society, and World Development are not accepted. Applicants who take the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and meet the offer criteria may receive the typical offer or an alternative offer one grade lower plus a grade A in the EPQ. Deferred entry is generally permitted if the School or central Admissions is informed, and the university maintains a neutral stance toward gap years, with applicants advised to apply in advance for deferred entry.
