Applicants are expected to have A-levels with grades AAB, including two subjects from Chemistry, Biology, Human Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, or Statistics, with at least one being Chemistry or Biology/Human Biology. For the International Baccalaureate (IB), applicants should achieve 6,6,5 at Higher Level including two subjects from the same list, with at least one being Chemistry or Biology/Human Biology, and a minimum of 32 points overall. BTEC Extended Diploma, Diploma, and Extended Certificate qualifications are accepted but are considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants typically require three A-levels. General Studies, Critical Thinking, Citizenship Studies, Applied Science, Communication and Culture, Critical Studies, Global Perspectives, Science in Society, and World Development are not accepted. Those taking the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) who meet the offer criteria will be given the typical offer, with an alternative offer one grade lower plus a grade A in the EPQ. Deferred entry is generally permitted, provided the School or central Admissions is informed, and the university maintains a neutral stance toward gap years; applicants are encouraged to apply in advance for deferred entry.
