BSc (Hons) Computer Games Development with Sandwich Year

UK

What will I learn?

Take your love of computer games to the next level with our BSc Computer Games Development course. Channel your passion for video games into your dream career. You’ll learn by doing, developing your own games using the high-performance kit in our Games Laboratory and software for use on your own PC. Focusing on software development for computer games, we’ll prepare you for a successful career in software engineering and the games industry. You’ll get to develop your programming expertise using C, maths and problem solving. During the course you’ll study computer graphics, artificial intelligence (AI), game mechanics and effective practical software development. Our students have won the Games Programming award at the Aardvark Swift ‘Search for a Star’ nationwide competition more than any other university. Computer games developers work as part of a multi-skilled team to produce high quality, innovative and exciting products to tight deadlines. You’ll graduate with the full set of skills you need to create a complex, interactive computer game. Previous students have gone on to work for some of the biggest names in the games industry, including Capcom, Codemasters, Crytek, EA Games, Evolution, Fuse Games, Jagex, Lionhead, Logistix, Pitbull, Playbox, Protirus, Rare, Rockstar, Ruffian, Steel Monkeys and Travellers Tales.
Our sandwich degrees offer the perfect blend of academic study and practical work experience, allowing you to build confidence in the workplace and graduate work-ready from your degree programme.

Our previous graduates have found their sandwich year particularly beneficial as it has allowed them to gain practical, hands-on experience within their chosen career and the opportunity to learn directly from professionals based out in industry. It is not uncommon for sandwich year programmes to also open up future work opportunities in similar fields or professions for our graduates.
