BSc (Hons) Computing with Sandwich Year

UK

What will I learn?

On our challenging and practical accredited BSc (Hons) Computing course you’ll examine the application of innovative technology to solve commercial and industrial computing problems. Your first year will be spent developing essential skills alongside students on our other Computing degree courses. After that you’ll get the opportunity to switch to a more specialised course of your choice or carry on, focusing on your choice of two routes from Business, Internet and Cloud, Networking, Security or Software Development. We’ll give you lots of opportunities to show off your technical skills and gain vital work experience to boost your employability. This course has accreditations leading to MBCS and CITP exemption from The British Computer Society (BCS), The Chartered Institute for IT. All graduates from this course are eligible to become Professional members (MBCS), with no further assessment. A real highlight of the course is our ‘Computing Challenge’, an annual competition where you’ll work as teams to develop a new app and use it in a competitive yet supportive environment.
Our sandwich degrees offer the perfect blend of academic study and practical work experience, allowing you to build confidence in the workplace and graduate work-ready from your degree programme.

Our previous graduates have found their sandwich year particularly beneficial as it has allowed them to gain practical, hands-on experience within their chosen career and the opportunity to learn directly from professionals based out in industry. It is not uncommon for sandwich year programmes to also open up future work opportunities in similar fields or professions for our graduates.
