What will I learn?

On this Creative Writing, you will develop a close understanding of texts as both a reader and writer. The practice of writing across a range of genres, forms and media, from the traditional to the experimental, will build your confidence in engaging different audiences. Guided by published writers, poets and researchers, you will embrace your love of the written word, discover your unique strengths as a writer and unlock your creative potential. We offer an exciting range of topics, focusing on novels, short fiction, creative non-fiction, flash fiction, hybrid forms, podcasting and poetry, writing for stage and screen, as well as the challenge of working with AI in professional and creative contexts. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge of the publishing industry and of the ways in which texts are produced, marketed and distributed. From the outset, on our Creative Writing degree, you will be encouraged to build your professional network and play an active role in our creative community. This enables you to draw inspiration and learn lessons from both past and current established practitioners.‘Placement Year’ and 'International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time.
