What will I learn?

Learn how economic decisions affect us as individuals and society as a whole. This Economics and Finance course combines studying economics with analysing financial markets and institutions As a member of the Russell Group, cutting edge research conducted by academics in the department feed into your modules. Our FinLab provides experience and training in the analysis of financial data. It includes a suite of Bloomberg terminals, used by traders. You'll gain the skills and knowledge to pursue a career in finance or economics. Graduate destinations include HSBC, Goldman Sachs, PwC and Bloomberg LLP. **Key Features of this course:** - You can take modules from the Economics department, Business School or from other departments across the University. - Gain exemptions from professional accounting bodies and the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries" - Spend a semester abroad in your third year or a year in employment - Gain vital work experience on our Student Innovation Projects **Student Support** You’ll be allocated a Personal Academic Tutor (PAT), who will be with you throughout your time at the University of Southampton, who can offer tailored careers advice. **Further information** Our BSc Economics course is a three-year. You can find further information on our course page. The department of Economics is based at Highfield Campus, our oldest and largest campus, located close to Southampton Common. It's the academic heart of our University and home to social events, sports facilities and our Students' Union.

Entry requirements

For international students

A-levels: AAB including Mathematics (excluding General Studies, Use of Maths and Critical Thinking), with an alternative offer of AABB including A in Maths for students taking four A-levels. International Baccalaureate Diploma: Pass with 36 points overall including 18 at Higher Level, with 6 points from Higher Level Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation). RQF BTEC: D in the BTEC National Extended Certificate plus AA from two A-levels including Mathematics; DD in the BTEC National Diploma plus A in A-level Mathematics. Applicants must hold GCSE English language (or GCSE English) (minimum grade 4/C).
