What will I learn?

Study the fundamental processes that shape landscapes, climates, and species and their interactions with human societies at a critical moment of planetary change and possibilities. Our BSc Geography is an immersive, hands-on degree where experts integrate your learning with fieldwork and laboratory training across everything from rewilding and climate change to coastal restoration, water management, and remote sensing. Our recognised expertise in collaboration means you'll be taught how to combine the scientific expertise and skills you gain with the perspectives of communities, governments and companies to find solutions to complex environmental challenges.**Global Processes, Lived Environments**Our BSc Geography programme is a transformative opportunity to study some of the most urgent issues facing the planet while developing transferrable skills in data collection, geospatial analysis, modelling, and field and laboratory techniques. You'll be collecting soil samples from Malta in your first year, learning about water challenges, and working in laboratories analysing data you collect. From there you'll work across our cutting-edge lab and geospatial modelling facilities with opportunities for optional fieldwork in Europe.Throughout your degree, you'll have the opportunity to complement advanced study of Earth and environmental processes with studies of how and where the relationships of people and planet are being redrawn at a record pace. Learn how science can inform practical action to address planetary emergencies, study how and why citizen scientists develop their own forms of expertise, or gain advanced understandings of climate and environmental policy as you consolidate your knowledge of how and why geography is critical to addressing environmental challenges at multiple scales. The BSc Geography includes an optional work placement and advanced independent research for your final year dissertation, and is among the most versatile degrees for graduates seeking to combine their passion for the environment with the skills needed across consulting, management, geospatial, and government organisations. Graduating into one of the most critical moments to advance sustainability agendas in the domestic and international push for green growth, the BSc Geography will prepare you for lifelong learning, and a lifelong career in shaping a more nature-positive world. **This programme is accredited by the Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers).**
