What will I learn?

Course overviewOn the Human Rights Law LLM, you will gain a broad understanding of domestic and international human rights law. You will have the opportunity to study a range of specialist areas including technology and human rights equality, discrimination, and criminal justice business and human rights and refugee law.You will be taught by experts who have advised governments, collaborated with organisations including the United Nations, and joined forces with NGOs in their human rights advocacy work. This practical application of academic knowledge allows you to see how human rights law can have a tangible impact.Research-led teachingThe School of Law is home to the Human Rights Law Centre (HRLC), one of the worlds most respected academic human rights institutions. The HRLC’s research and activities underpin our teaching and offer a range of opportunities for you to participate in our activities. These range from voluntary placements to paid summer internships. These experiences are designed to broaden your understanding of human rights research and practical work, while providing invaluable hands-on experience in a renowned academic centre.The HRLC’s Director is Professor Aoife Nolan, who also acts as the President of the Council of Europe’s European Committee of Social Rights. Professor Dominic McGoldrick is the editor-in-chief of the Human Rights Law Review (the leading journal in the field).
