What will I learn?

This course looks at the financial system that aligns with the ethical principles of Islam. It ensures that money management and business activities adhere to sharia guidelines.

Islamic finance is based on the idea that money has no value on its own - it’s simply a tool for exchanging goods and services that do have value.

This course offers you a deep dive into the fascinating world of Islamic finance, blending its principles and practices with the foundations of traditional western finance.

Throughout the duration of this course, you will:

  • develop your understanding of the application of Islamic commercial law.
  • develop an understanding of the emergence and working mechanisms of Islamic capital markets
  • learn to challenge the contemporary issues and debates in Islamic finance
  • learn of the internationalisation strategies and strategic decisions in business
  • recognise in which ways Islamic finance is different to other kinds of finance
  • learn about the operations of Islamic banks and Islamic financial markets
  • understand the nature of risk and its management in Islamic financial institutions.

You’ll learn about Islamic finance and traditional western finance, giving you the skills to succeed in a growing global industry.

An optional internship is available on this course, which gives you the opportunity to gain real-world work experience while you complete your degree.
