What will I learn?

Our MSc Statistics & Data Science is designed for students with a background in a broad range of disciplines. It provides an opening to a career as a data scientist or applied statistician, without having previous study in the field. On this course you will:gain skills in data analysis and machine learning, processing of big data, predictive modelling and the use of statistical software packages R and Pythonbecome equipped with the necessary training to work as an applied statistician and data scientist in a broad range of fields such as health, insurance, finance and commerceOur Masters in Statistics & Data Science is a conversion course that allows you to develop skills in statistics and data science without previous study in the area.You'll be supported by experts who work directly with industry and the public sector, to develop analytical skills which are relevant to the varied industries which make use of data science, including:processing and analysis of complex datathe use of statistical programming for data analysis, machine learning and prediction modellingproblem solvingeffective communicationconducting research in the data science field

Entry requirements

For international students

Minimum second-class (2:2) Honours degree or overseas equivalent.

Mathematical training to A Level or equivalent standard.

Prospective students with relevant experience or appropriate professional qualifications are also welcome to apply.

For Australia and Canada, normal degrees in relevant disciplines are accepted.

Mathematical knowledge

Applicants are required to have some prior mathematical knowledge, for example, A Level or equivalent in:

calculus

linear algebra

differential equations

A free online pre-sessional mathematics course is available for students who lack this knowledge or who require a refresher of existing knowledge.
