What will I learn?

This foundation degree is designed to support the development of coaches and leaders working within the outdoor and adventure industry. Delivered over two years on a full-time basis, the programme develops practical coaching skills alongside theoretical understanding to prepare learners for professional practice in a range of outdoor environments.You will explore key topics relevant to outdoor coaching and leadership, including coaching theory, sports science, and contemporary approaches such as adventure therapy. Learning is applied across a variety of outdoor disciplines, including paddlesport, climbing, navigation, and mountain biking. The course encourages reflective practice, critical evaluation, and the application of research-informed approaches. Study also supports progression through National Governing Body (NGB) awards and ongoing professional development within the outdoor sector.Successful completion supports progression into employment, further qualifications, or degree-level study.
