Healthcare Technology and Digital Interventions is recognised for pioneering research in the areas of developing innovative healthcare technologies and devices, AI-empowered healthcare solutions and digital health interventions with scientific and socioeconomic impacts to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.About the themeThis research cluster will empower innovative healthcare by developing transformative, medical-grade, truly wearable, and even unobtrusive healthcare technologies to predict, prevent, diagnose and manage a wide range of diseases, with the goal of revolutionising healthcare pathways through interactive self-management and proactive digital health interventions.The cluster is closely aligned to the goal of the 10-Year Health Plan for England, which states that by 2035 wearable devices are expected to become standard in preventive, chronic, and post-acute care, with all NHS patients given access to them.This cluster focuses on the CUG’s established a world-class reputation for delivering high-quality, externally funded research in next-generation cardiovascular and maternal wearable health monitoring technologies, including continuous vital sign monitoring such as cuffless blood pressure and respiration rate, as well as predictive solutions for preterm birth.This positions us to lead the integration of wearable devices with digital health transformation and to ensure that these innovations are not only clinically and societally impactful but also scalable across healthcare systems both nationally and globally.The Research Centre for Healthcare and Community Transformation (HCT) offers remote learning via a structured PhD in Healthcare Sciences, leading to a Doctor of Philosophy awarded by Coventry University.
