What will I learn?

Explore the laws that underpin the entire universe with BSc Physics. From quantum interactions of sub-atomic particles to the vast celestial bodies that make up the night sky, you'll study core physics in a friendly and supportive environment.

Graduate with a degree in Physics from Birmingham and your choice of careers will be wide open. Learn about quantum mechanics, optics and particle physics. Join us and build problem-solving, programming, mathematical, teamwork and experimental skills.

You'll develop a broad understanding of the laws that make up the natural world. Our academics are global experts in their fields and will help you step up to university-level physics. Choose from topics such as quantum mechanics, nuclear physics, chaos and dynamical systems and the life and death of stars.

You’ll benefit from using state-of-the-art study spaces, computing suites and laboratories. Our research spaces include our own particle accelerators, the MC40 cyclotron for charged particles and HF-ADNeF, the most intense accelerator driven neutron source worldwide, as well as labs used for the construction of the detectors and electronics in experiments at the Large Hadron Collider, CERN.

As a Birmingham Physics graduate, you'll have a broad range of options for the future either working directly in a scientific environment or using transferable skills in different roles.
