What will I learn?

Explore the laws that underpin the universe and experience studying in another country with MSci Physics (International Study). From studying the quantum interactions of sub-atomic particles to the vast celestial bodies that make up the night sky, you'll master advanced physics in a friendly and supportive environment. On our integrated Masters learn about quantum mechanics, optics and particle physics while building problem-solving, teamwork and experimental skills. Enjoy a year at a partner university overseas for a global perspective on the subject and broaden your career opportunities.Develop an advanced understanding of the laws that make up the natural world. Our academics are global experts in their field and will help you step up to university-level physics. Choose from topics such as quantum mechanics, nuclear physics, chaos and dynamical systems and the life and death of stars.Spend your third year studying physics at an international university, immerse yourself in another culture and build language skills for working abroad. During your final year you’ll join a research group and apply your knowledge to an individual project, developing high-level research skills. You’ll benefit from using state-of-the-art study spaces, computing suites and laboratories. Our research spaces include our own particle accelerators, the MC40 cyclotron for charged particles and HF-ADNeF, the most intense accelerator driven neutron source worldwide, as well as labs used for the construction of the detectors and electronics in experiments at the Large Hadron Collider, CERN. As a Birmingham Physics graduate, you'll have a broad range of options for the future.
