Our PGCE Primary Education with Specialism in Physical Education with QTS puts the holistic development of children at the heart of what you will learn. You will develop your knowledge and practice of Physical Education and its educative purpose in a range of settings. We will provide you with the skills and understanding that you will need to engage and inspire every child in your primary school classroom, to prepare you for the Early Career Framework and beyond. What's covered in this course? You’ll discover that the way we teach you and the time you spend in schools in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands area will give you a broad experience of working with children who come from a wide range of different social, economic and cultural backgrounds, so you’ll be confident, committed and creative teacher ready for the Early Career Framework. In line with DfE requirements, we have designed Intensive Training and Practice (ITaP) sessions for this course. ITaP elements enable you to focus on specific and pivotal areas of the ITE curriculum – such as assessment, transitions and adaptive teaching – in an intensive way and so develop the skills and knowledge to draw together evidence-based theory and practice. You will be assessed against the Teachers’ Standards (DfE 2012) at the end of the course. This course covers the primary age phase, specialising in the 5-11 age range. This means that you will be qualified to deliver primary education in primary schools.
