This Professional Policing (with Foundation Year) degree leads on to a full BSc (Hons) programme. A foundation year is a great option if you want to study at university but don’t currently have the qualifications needed for your chosen honours degree.On our BSc (Hons) Professional Policing (with Foundation Year) you'll develop essential academic skills through two compulsory modules. You'll focus on extended writing, independent study and debating relevant issues.You'll also be able to choose from a range of optional modules introducing you to key topics. These include law, policing, criminology, sociology and psychology.BSc (Hons) Professional PolicingWhen you successfully complete the foundation year, you'll progress onto Year 1 of our BSc (Hons) Professional Policing which is taught through block learning. This means you’ll study one module at a time, and you'll focus on one topic before moving on to the next one.The BSc (Hons) Professional Policing is pre-recognised by the police service as one of the entry routes for the role of police constable. From Year 1 you'll cover the national curriculum for the police constable role, taking your first steps towards a successful career in the police.Other pathwaysThis foundation year covers aspects of policing, law and criminology. This means you’ll also be able to progress onto any of our following courses:BSc (Hons) Policing, Law Enforcement and InvestigationBSc (Hons) Cyber Investigations with Digital ForensicsBA (Hons) Criminology and Criminal JusticeBA (Hons) Criminology and SociologyLLB (Hons) LawLLB (Hons) Law with BusinessLLB (Hons) Law with Criminology**Why study with us**- This course is an ideal pathway if you’re looking to progress on to our BSc (Hons) Professional Policing programme.- You’ll be taught by leading academics and staff who have real world experience both in the police force and the wider law enforcement sector.- You’ll learn about policing, the English legal system and decision making and investigation within police forces.**What you'll do**- You'll learn the fundamentals of professional policing while improving your communication skills and building confidence through individual work and group presentations.- On the BSc (Hons) Professional Policing course you’ll be studying content licensed by the College of Policing that meets the national curriculum standards for the police constable role.- You'll benefit from our strong partnerships with constabularies, police forces, the National Crime Agency and the National Cyber Security Centre.**Future Careers**With our Professional Policing foundation course, you'll be ready to progress onto our BSc (Hons) Professional Policing programme or any of our other Policing, Law and Criminology undergraduate degrees.Your skills and high levels of confidence will be valued by private and public sector graduate employers in all areas of employment.Many of our policing graduates have joined local forces, or work for the British Transport Police. Some also work within insurance or banking, Civil Nuclear Constabulary, HM Prison Service or carry out fraud investigation within the Department of Social Security and UK Border Agency.It is important to note there’s no guarantee that successful completion will lead to an employment opportunity with the police service.
