Applicants are required to have ABB at A Level, including a grade B in the advanced language they wish to study. Alternatively, it is possible to study two beginner (including post-GCSE) languages without an advanced language, in which case a language A Level is not required. General Studies is accepted. For the International Baccalaureate (IB), candidates must achieve 6,5,5 in Higher Level subjects with a total of 32 points overall, including a Higher Level or equivalent in the modern language to be studied. BTEC qualifications are accepted as follows: BTEC Extended Diploma with DDM plus a B at A Level in the required subject(s); BTEC Diploma with DD plus a B at A Level in the required subject(s); and BTEC Subsidiary Diploma with D plus AB at A Level, including the required subject(s). Applicants who are not currently studying the required language at A Level may also be considered if they offer an independent language diploma at B2 level, such as DELF-B2 (French), DELE-B2 (Spanish), Goethe-Zertifikat-B2 (German), DILI-B2 (Italian), or TRKI 2nd Certificate (Russian). These diplomas must meet the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) standards and will be considered when taken in addition to three A Levels or equivalent qualifications.
