In recent years Winchester University has built a strong reputation for its sports journalism. We have built up a network of partnerships with local and national sporting bodies. We currently have strong relationships with Winchester City Football Club, Totton Football Club, Basingstoke Town Football Club, Basingstoke Bison ice hockey club, Perform sports agency, ITV Sport, Hampshire FA among others. Our graduates are employed at all the major sports broadcasters – BBC Sport, ITV Sport, BT Sport, Sky Sports and beIN Sports.

Careers

Graduates go into print, broadcast and electronic media as reporters, producers and researchers. Support is given in seeking both work placements during study and employment thereafter to assist the process of a successful career in journalism.

The Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) record collects information about what those completing university go on to do six months after graduation. The Careers Service undertakes DLHE on an annual basis through surveys and a data collection process. DLHE is designed and strictly controlled by HESA.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students need SAT I with a minimum balanced score of 1250. They will also need high school diploma with a good GPA. A combination of subject related AP and SAT II may also be eligible for entry into our undergraduate degrees. AP or SAT II scores will be a pre-requisite for entry into certain subjects.
