What will I learn?

Investigate the past and improve your analytical, research and writing skills for graduate study or a variety of careers. A bachelor’s degree in history involves the study of people in different times and places, which develops moral judgment and expands our understanding of power, cultures, worldviews and what it is to be human. A history major will help you be prepared for further graduate studies, as well as the intellectual demands of many other professions, including law, education, journalism, civil service and business. Learn in small classes with world-class faculty who teach traditional and innovative techniques of historical investigation to gain a rich new perspective on the present, including the use of Adelphi’s University Archives and Special Collections for research. Build a deeper understanding of change within human societies that can be applied to a variety of careers. Grow as a scholar with the opportunity to present your work and grow as a leader at a variety of regional and national research conferences, or participate in fieldwork nationally or abroad.
