What will I learn?

Students majoring in Dairy Science will complete the degree requirements listed here. If desired, a student may also include the specialized option in pre-veterinary medicine. A minimum of 15 credits of animal science coursework must be earned at Iowa State University. Student Learning Outcomes: Upon graduation, students should be able to: Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of dairy science, dairy management, and agribusiness. Communicate in oral and written formats. Describe contemporary domestic and global issues impacting dairy science. Contribute or lead team efforts to achieve group goals. Utilize effective life-long learning skills. Evaluate the impacts of dairy management practices on economic, sociological, and environmental sustainability.

Entry requirements

For international students

High school GPA requirement: Equivalent to a minimum 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. For more information on equivalency calculations. Core course requirements: Along with the GPA requirement, students must complete a minimum set of high school core courses, including four years of English (or their native language), three years of science with at least two years of laboratory science in biology, chemistry, and/or physics, three years of mathematics including algebra and geometry, and two years of social studies.
