What will I learn?

Thirty credit hours in Spanish courses numbered 300 and above. In addition, demonstrated 276 or 277 skill level in Portuguese must be documented or completed. Seven required courses (21 credit hours) include: 301, 302, 306 or 307, 352, one of the following: 350 or 351, one of the following: 411 or 412, one of the following: 431 or 432. Three elective courses (9 credit hours) must be above 307 with at least one course (3 credit hours) at the 400 level. Only one 301 (3 credit hours) may be applied toward the major. A student may follow a general course of studies or a group of courses in the following areas: Spanish Peninsular Literature, Spanish American Literature, Southwest Hispanic Studies or Hispanic Linguistics. Students planning to major in Spanish should consult with the Undergraduate Advisor for Spanish. All grades must be "C" or better.A program that focuses on the Spanish language and related dialects. Includes instruction in philology Modern Castillan Latin American and regional Spanish dialects and applications in business, science/technology, and other settings.
