What will I learn?

Comparative literature brings an international and intercultural perspective to bear on the study of literary themes, forms, movements and relations, as well as the interrelations between different national literatures and other disciplines. The Comparative Literature Program provides students the opportunity to design a course of study allowing specialization in two or more literatures.Comparative literature embraces the study of literary themes, forms, movements, and the interrelations of literature and other disciplines. The program offers the student the opportunity, with the aid of the program coordinator, to construct an individualized program. Students in comparative literature must have a command of at least one foreign language at the advanced elective level. In addition to courses designed for students specializing in comparative literature, the program offers courses in cooperation with Art History, English, Anthropology, Philosophy, and other departments.
