What will I learn?

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Education Studies program helps students strengthen their teaching, planning, and instructional design skills through an experience-based curriculum. Education Studies majors explore education theory and apply their knowledge in classroom and community settings. The program incorporates school learning opportunities where students can strengthen their practical skills to prepare for a career in the education field. Rather than leading to certification or state licensure as a teacher, the Education Studies program prepares students for roles in alternative educational settings, such as private schools, nonprofit organizations, and museums. An education studies degree can also lead to opportunities in instructional design, training and development, or education program management. A Bachelor of Education Studies program helps students build the education theory knowledge and teaching skills required for many careers in education. Students enrolled in the program complete coursework in the psychology of learning, curriculum design, communication, and experiential education. Experiential education components develop teaching and classroom management skills for a variety of settings. In addition to the BA in Education Studies program, NEC offers several education degree programs that prepare students to obtain a teaching license or certification upon graduation.
