What will I learn?

In New England College’s Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Education program, you’ll build the skills and knowledge to become an effective education professional. Main components of the program include the following: Creating and facilitating meaningful conventional and unconventional learning experiences. There’s no better way to learn about these opportunities than to actually experience the facilitation process. Work alongside professional educators starting in your first semester, and every semester thereafter. Building curriculum. You’ll learn how to modify and adapt curriculum in real-life school settings, so all students can meet with success. Whether you’re teaching first graders or high school juniors, you’ll be able to support all students. You’ll engage in various courses that’ll help you meet the needs of the diverse learners in your future classrooms. Teaching many subjects and developing the habits of mind to be an effective teacher. Learn from your faculty members as they demonstrate effective teaching strategies. Discover how to get students excited about learning, even when learning may be difficult for them. See the power of believing in every student and making sure that instruction meets the needs of all students and helps them be successful. Become versed in the content that you’ll be teaching your students. Students majoring in elementary education must become versed in either English, social studies, math, or science. Students majoring in secondary education must become versed in the content associated with their area of licensure: English, social studies, life sciences, theatre, or physical education.Educating your students at every level. Spend time with students who are struggling learners. See how their needs are met and become versed in the laws and policies that support the education of all students. We believe you must be prepared to educate all children regardless of their talents or challenges.Engaging in practical experiences. Every semester, you’ll have the opportunity to work with our partner schools in various capacities. Some of these experiences you’ll complete with classmates others you’ll complete independently. We continuously maintain our partnerships while also cultivating new opportunities. This allows Education faculty to stay connected to the changing realities of education as a social structure. Immerse yourself in teaching and learning in the final two independent placements before your final full-time student teaching experience.
