What will I learn?
The Bachelor of Arts degree introduces students to careers in the music industry such as arts management, arts journalism, and recording studio production. The degree serves as a foundation for advanced studies in music performance and music education. Bachelor of Arts in Music students often proceed into professional fields as diverse as medicine and law.LEARNING OUTCOMESStudents will demonstrate the ability to hear, identify, and work conceptually with the elements of music such as rhythm, melody, harmony, structure, timbre, and texture.Students will demonstrate an understanding of compositional processes and aesthetic properties of style, along with the ways these shape and are shaped by artistic and cultural forces.Students will demonstrate a familiarity and engagement with a wide selection of Western and non-Western musical literature including principal eras, genres, and sources in classical, popular, and traditional spheres of making music.Students will demonstrate knowledge, skills and/or performance ability as a solo and ensemble performer in one or more areas of music beyond basic musicianship appropriate to the individual's needs and interests, and consistent with the purposes of the specific area of emphasis within the music major.

For international students
Unofficial secondary/high school transcripts may be used for the initial admission evaluation. Official transcripts or official exam results are required at the time of enrollment. If a transcript is not in English, a certified English translation must accompany the transcript. Strong applicants will have a minimum recalculated grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 over the course of their last three years of academic coursework. GPA recalculation takes place during admission review. Prior to enrollment, students must obtain a high school diploma, certificate, or GED.
