What will I learn?

Students who study Social Work at Lewis University prepare to serve diverse populations and advance human rights. During the program, social work majors will learn to recognize the value of human relationships, think critically and understand research in practice. Upon graduation, they will be qualified to apply for social work licensure in the State of Illinois. Lewis also offers a minor in Social Work for students of any academic background to complement their degree.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants must have graduated from an approved high school with a combination of grade point average, class rank, and ACT or SAT score which indicates a strong likelihood of success in university studies.

Students interested in declaring a Social Work major must

Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00.

Have earned at least a “C” in each of the prerequisite courses listed below: SCWK 10000 Introduction to Social Work; SCWK 25000: Human Behaviour and Social Environment I

Be registered for SCWK 30200 Practice 1: Methods of Interventions with Individuals

Submit an application form to the Undergraduate Program Director

English Proficiency Exams

IELTS - Minimum 6.5; TOEFL IBT - Minimum 79; PTE-A - Minimum 52; Duolingo Academic - Minimum 105.
