What will I learn?

Jazz and Studio Music has a long and successful history at the University of Memphis. Initiated by Dr. Tom Ferguson in the 1960s the School of Music has developed one of the most comprehensive programs in the United States currently offering both undergraduate and master s degrees in Jazz Performance and Composition Arranging. Both music majors and non majors at the University of Memphis are strongly encouraged to participate in the performing groups classes and applied lessons offered in the Jazz and Studio Music curriculum. Our Jazz and Studio Music curriculum is designed to prepare students for a professional career performing composing researching or teaching in all fields of music. The division works closely with other music faculty at the University of Memphis to offer students an inclusive music curriculum that prepares them for the contemporary music field.

Entry requirements

For international students

All students both freshmen and transfer must apply online for admission undergraduate students. Review application deadlines. Freshman admission is competitive and based upon a comprehensive review of the students academic record. The primary factors include the high school secondary grade point average and demonstrated English proficiency.Transfer admission is competitive and based upon the cumulative grade point average of all previously attended colleges universities international and domestic. Your cumulative GPA must be at least a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale for consideration. Demonstrated English proficiency is also required of all international applicants.Pay the non-refundable undergraduate application fee of USD 50.Applicants should upload a copy of their official international transcript or marks sheet high school secondary or college university to their application portal.Admission Requirements by CountryThe Office of Undergraduate Admission and Orientation will conduct an initial assessment of your international transcriptmarks sheet for admissions review. Receipt of official transcriptmarks sheet will be required prior to enrollment.After the application fee has been paid and all high school or college transcripts have been uploaded review of the undergraduate application will begin. While the review period may vary on average applicants will be notified by email of a decision within 5-7 business days.
