What will I learn?

The study of communication involves the development of theories and research tools to analyze, explain and improve human interaction. Departmental courses focus on: Two-person interactionSmall-group decision makingCommunication patterns in organizations and other complex systemsAt SIUE, students are encouraged to put their newly acquired skills to work through hands-on activities, service learning and guided internships. Students have the opportunity to work with actual clients on projects in various courses and through the Senior Assignment. At SIUE, we are committed to helping undergraduate majors identify jobs and work environments for which they are best suited, help students select appropriate internships, and help guide students in the selection of minors and elective courses to complement the applied communications studies major.Public relationsSpeaker-audience interaction in public speaking

Entry requirements

For international students

Students seeking a bachelors degree from SIUE who have never attended a college or university, and those who may have taken some coursework at a college or university outside the U.S. but do not currently hold a bachelors degree.Submit official records showing grades for all years of secondary/high school AND official exam results or certificate/diploma. Applicants who have attempted at least 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of college-level transfer credit (either from the U.S. or abroad) are not required to provide secondary school records.Meet English proficiency requirementTOEFL: 72IELTS: 6.0 (no component score under 5.5)
