What will I learn?

The curriculum leads to the degree of Bachelor of Science with a major in Career and Technical Education, Technology and Engineering Education emphasis. The student needs to complete the thirty-two-hour technology education core and meet the teacher education and general education requirements for a teaching license. A minimum of thirty hours of technology education course work needs to be completed at Pittsburg State University. Students in technology and engineering education can take any course in the College of Technology for which they have the necessary prerequisites to fulfill the requirements for a technical specialization. Students successfully completing this program can receive a Kansas teaching license for Technology Education (typically middle school and entry-level high school technology courses). Technology and engineering education majors must apply to the College of Education, Room 115 Hughes Hall, for admission to teacher education during the second semester of their sophomore year. Students transferring in as juniors must apply during their first semester on campus. Refer to the Teacher Education section of this University Catalog for criteria for admission to teacher education and to the professional semester.
