What will I learn?

Bring your passion for teaching to the elementary classroom, whether you choose to work in schools or community preschool settings. During the B.S.Ed. in Elementary Education and Teaching program we will teach you to understand the many development stages of children and how they learn, as well as how family and society play a role in their education. You'll graduate as a reflective education with in-depth understanding of the science, social studies and mathematics instruction elementary-age children need, along with a commitment to balanced literacy approaches. We also prepare you to advocate for equitable learning opportunities for all children.

Your secondary education should be the type that would prepare you for entrance to a recognized university in your home country.

VCU also requires you to have completed the following academic units by the final year of your high school curriculum:

Mathematics

Natural science

History or social science

English or foreign language

You must complete any special departmental requirements in advance, including standardized tests, and the appropriate testing agency must send your official test results to international admissions."

*There may be different IELTS requirements depending on your chosen course.
