What will I learn?

Join the Missouri S&T secondary education program As a secondary education student, you can choose from one of many concentration areas (see below). Missouri S&T isn't just an engineering school, it is also known for other specialties like Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Physics, and Mathematics. In our program, you'll earn a Bachelor of Arts or Science in your chosen concentration and be certified to teach grades 9-12 in Missouri. Missouri S&T's Teacher Education Department helped prepare me for the classroom by putting a focus on hands-on training and stem education. At S&T, I got to not only study secondary education but also my content area. I was able to get my B.S. in Physics as a part of the program, giving me so much more depth in the content I will be teaching. In my education classes, there were many opportunities for learning how to implement STEM activities in a classroom setting. We even got to work with the local schools to bring STEM lessons to middle school students. The South Central Regional Professional Development Center, located only minutes away from campus, gave my classmates and I plenty of opportunities to get training on a wide range of topics to help us with our future classrooms. S&T also gave me opportunities to work in a classroom – not just at the end of the program but also in the first two semesters. This allowed me to see a classroom early so I knew what I was getting into and that it was the ''right fit'' for me. The Teacher Education Department also offered many opportunities outside of classwork to get involved in the local schools through STEM activities, after-school programs, and special events.

Entry requirements

For international students

Missouri S&T seeks international students who have a strong probability of succeeding at the university. Admission is selective and based on a combination of secondary school core curriculum (a set of required secondary school classes), ACT and/or SAT composite scores (if available), grade point average (GPA), and class rank percentile. (For non-ranking schools, GPA will be used to evaluate your application).International students must fulfill the same admission requirements as domestic applicants, but standardized test scores (ACT or SAT) are not required but should be submitted if available. Meeting the minimum requirements, however, does not guarantee admission, nor does it guarantee admission to a particular program. Missouri S&T appreciates well-rounded students and evaluates each application individually.

*There may be different IELTS requirements depending on your chosen course.
