What will I learn?

RIT's manufacturing option in industrial engineering combines analytics, Lean thinking, and additive and advanced manufacturing to improve production systems. Manufacturing focuses on transforming ideas, materials, and designs into high-quality products through efficient and reliable production systems. For students interested in industrial engineer manufacturing careers, this option builds on the broad foundation of industrial engineering while gaining specialized knowledge in lean system design, computer-aided design and manufacturing, design for manufacture and assembly, and additive manufacturing technologies. From improving manufacturing flow and reducing production waste to designing parts for easier assembly, creating prototypes, and exploring advanced 3D printing methods, the manufacturing option prepares engineers to develop production systems that are innovative, efficient, adaptable, and ready for the future of industry.
