What will I learn?

The international business studies (IBS) major is designed to prepare you to conduct business successfully around the world.By placing equal emphasis on business and international studies, including advanced language training and a semester abroad, the IBS program will teach you to apply business principles to a region of the world in that region’s native language.This specialized international training will give you excellent preparation for a wide variety of careers as markets continue to become more globalized.If you enjoy living and working in different cultures, speaking different languages and interacting with people from various regions of the world, IBS is the major for you. International Business Studies focuses on the in-depth study of a region of the world with an heavy emphasis on advanced language skills and international studies to accompany a strong curriculum of business and international business courses. All International Business Studies majors must complete a fall or spring semester abroad, studying in a region of the world consistent with their language of choice.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants to the University must be graduates of accredited secondary schools or have equivalent credentials. Specifically, for post-secondary, degree-seeking programs, we consider for admission students who

  • have a high school diploma;
  • have the recognized equivalent of a high school diploma; or
  • are beyond the age of compulsory secondary school attendance in Delaware.
